What Jesus
Preached? What Was His Original Message to Mankind?
Introduction:
Understanding
the Message Jesus preached is very important in helping us understand the
ultimate solution to our ultimate problem as mankind. God’s ultimate solution
is found within the message that Jesus came to preach. The mission and
assignment of Jesus was not to take us to heaven, but to bring heaven into
us…in other words, Jesus came to reestablish and restore the Kingdom of Heaven
in the earth in our lives.
a
careful study of the four gospels of matthew, mark, luke, and john shows that
Jesus never preach prosperity as a message but a by-product of the kingdom, he
never preached healing as a message but a by-product of the kingdom, he never
preached deliverance as a message but a by-product of the kingdom. He spoke
about these subjects but as a message, rather as kingdom by-products that means
the benefits of embracing the kingdom of God.
The
central message of Jesus was a Kingdom message. When Jesus came to earth in
human form, He brought with Him His own Kingdom; which is God’s Government;
God’s way of doing things. If the Kingdom of God is the ultimate message of
Jesus, then it means “the Kingdom of God is the ultimate solution to every
problem of man…the Kingdom of God is our ultimate answer to our troubled lives
as men.
Isa. 9:6 - ……and the Government shall be upon His shoulders, ….of the
increase of His Government there shall be no end.
Luke 17:20 - His Kingdom comes not with observation, but with
demonstration; tangible evidence of power! Vs. 21 - The Kingdom of God
is within you!
When
Jesus came into the earth, everything changed. Jesus brought to earth what Man
lost in the Garden of Eden in the fall. He brought His Kingdom government
with Him, meaning King-dominion for Mankind! He went about doing good;
destroying all the works of the devil, healing the sick, raising the dead,
making the lame to walk and the blind to see because the Kingdom of God was
with Him. Anytime He bumped up against circumstances, situations or
things that were out of God’s order, He released His Kingdom’s power and
authority by speaking the Word of God, and that Word impacted, affected and
changed whatever He targeted. That is dominion and subduing all things in
the earth from Gen.
1:26-28, God’s original purpose and plan for His Man.
Jesus
influenced things, circumstances, people, religious thought, and upset all the
traditions and religious ideas of His day. He was able to do this as an
Old Covenant Man who believed that God would perform His own Word on behalf of
a person who believed the Word of God enough to speak That Word to
circumstances and see immediate alteration and change. Jesus always addressed
the problem with the Word, which is the power of God unto all deliverance (Ro. 1:16).
Jesus was not sent here to heal sick people or do all the miracles He
did. He was sent to earth to demonstrate in person, how mankind, which is
you and me, should be living, thinking, acting and talking. Then, with
delegated power and authority, He sent His disciples out to do the same “works
of God” in His Name, and they had the same predictable results!
Under
the New Covenant, we now have more than the delegated authority that Jesus gave
His disciples before He was crucified and raised again. We have Jesus’
full power and authority to do the greater works He spoke of in Jn.14:12.
